Venice: The Floating City
April 3, 2014
Isn’t it wonderful to travel? Our wanderlust list is endless. The sights, smells and sounds that one sees travelling can stay with you for years. So many times we’ve started a sentence with ‘Do you remember that time we went to….’ Recently we ticked a new destination off our wanderlust list, Venice; home of the film festival, century old carnivals, Vivaldi, the Renaissance and streets made of water.
We spent a fair amount of time admiring the magnificent Murrano glassware and intricate chandeliers and listening to the competing orchestras in St Marks Square. Walking the canals inevitably brought us upon some gondoliers in their iconic black and white striped jumpers and singing the theme tune to the Cornetto advert. buy isotretinoin We kept our energy levels up with lots of deep, intense, espresso shots in crowded sidewalk cafes and were spoilt for choice with the range of homemade gelato that are sold in tiny little ice cream parlours on every street corner. We absolutely had to visit the Roman Catholic Saint Mark’s Basilica cathedral where you can’t help but be overwhelmed by the gold mosaics and magnificent artwork on show. Also, if you ever find yourself in Venice we insist you visit Burrano island. It is a colourful paradise, where every house is painted a different colour.
The Italian cuisine is world famous and yet it is, in truth, so simple; it’s real secret is to use ingredients that are basic but such good quality that they can’t help but come together to create something delicious. One of our favourite meals was when we finished off a delicious meal of homemade pasta with a shot of Buy Fluoxetine limoncello, the classic lemon liqueur.
Unfortunately the weather was not out to impress us (as you can see by the pictures) Retin-A cream but its canals were still romantic and an astonishing spectacle. Luigi Barzini described Venice in The New York Times as ‘undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man’. We have to agree.
So now we need to start planning the next trip…
